Michele Lotito, Tumpet

Michele Lotito graduated from the Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi in Milan where he studied the Trumpet under the guidance of Professor Salvi.  He later obtained a diploma in Jazz composition at the Conservatory Santa Cecilia in Rome with Professor Damiani. 

He ranked First Place at the VI Regional Competition for Young Instrumentalists held in Lugano at the Radio Televisione Svizzera Italiana studios (RTS - a Swiss radio television network in the Italian language). He also won First Place and a Gold Medal award at the "F. Terraneo" competition in Como in 1990.

Michele attended orchestral courses with the Italian Youth Orchestra.

He played as Principal Trumpet with the Orchestra di Fiati della Svizzera Italiana (OFSI) with which he won first prize at the 1997 World Music Contest in Kerkrade, Netherlands.

In 2000 he participated as a soloist at the closing ceremony of the "Holy Door" for the Jubilee and the "Festival of Religions" in the presence of Pope John Paul II.  These events were transmitted live on RAI television (Italy's national public broadcasting company).  Following this, in 2004 he performed as the Natural Trumpet player in a duo with an Hydraulic Organ/a Water Organ at the Quirinal Palace in Rome in the presence of the Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.

He participated in the recording of a number of compact discs with Bongiovanni and EMI (Respighi, la Trilogia Romana, e G.Verdi, Requiem, Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia).  He also recorded a CD for the Jubliee with the Cappella Musicale Pontificia ‘Sistina’ and as a soloist, he recorded for Radio Televisione Svizzera Italiana for radio and television broadcasts.

He performed as Principal Trumpet with l'Orchestra del Teatro dell'Opera (Rome), l'Orchestra dell'Accademia di Santa Cecilia (Rome) and l'Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala di Milano and many of the concerts were transmitted on major television networks.

Following the attested qualifications achieved in competitions and auditions, Michele collaborated with the following orchestras:

Orchestra Sinfonica dell'Emilia-Romagna “A.Toscanini” - The Symphony Orchestra of Emilia-Romagna "A. Toscanini"; Orchestra Sinfonica “Haydn”di Bolzano e Trento - The Symphony Orchestra "Haydn" of Bolzano and Trento; Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI di Torino - The RAI Symphony Orchestra, Torino; Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano “Giuseppe Verdi” - The Giuseppe Verdi Symphony Orchestra, Milan; Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana - The Italian Orchestra of Switzerland.

Michele has performed in some of the most prestigious theatres while on tour in Europe, United States of America, United Arab Emirates and China.  He has played under the direction of famous conductors, such as G.Gavazzeni, C. M. Giulini, R. Muti, P. Maag, L. Maazel, D. Gatti, D. Barenboim, E. Morricone, G. Gelmetti, V. Gerghièv, A. Pappano, Z. Mehta and with soloists like M. Rostropovich, M. Tipo, R. Lupu, M. Pollini, U. Ughi, Accardo S. J. Carreras and M. Freni.
